The rvsc boys played a great game but in the end a very poor call by the home linesman in the last minute dissallowing a perfectly good goal by Dylan Williams meant that RVSC bowed out off their 2011 State cup challenge. RVSC U16S MAKE NY STATE CUP FINAL

With one dissapointing result on Saturday Morning 21st May, in the u17 semi final off the State cup, it was down to the RVSC u16s to make it two years in a row that RVSC had a team in the NY State cup finals day. And well they stood up to that challenge. Away to the Elite FC Westchester, Rvsc started off nervous but the boys hung in and worked hard to get to half time at 0-0. The half time talk was not one for faint hearted but it did the trick as the players came out firing and got their reward when Gavin Keenan played Edmond Myres in and as his chip shot boucned off the post Keenan's excellent follow up led to him hammering the ball in for a 1-0 lead.

The lead was doubled minutes later when Jimmy Rosengrant and Marc Tores combined well to set Myres up for RVSCto lead 2-0. With just minutes remaining Rvsc rapped up a great day when Marc Torres scored from the penalty spot after an FC defender handled in the box.

A great end to the day for Ramapo Valley SC and for the 2nd year in a row they will be represented in the June 5th finals in Lagrange.

In what was one off the hardest contests the boys have entered with State Champions all in play, this was to prove to be a great test for the RVSC boys.

With five teams in the bracket all the scores were 0-0 or 1-0 games not one single game had two goals, such was the high standard. Ramapo recorded wins over Vermont State champions 1-0, the Mass State Champs The Expos, 1-0, New York west, State finialists Post FC, 1-0 and a 0-0 verse Bostons Weston FC.

Rvsc u16s red, win exciting State cup opener at Soccer Plus, Newburgh.

The Ramapo valley u16 boys continue to improve after back to back tournament wins the boys travelled up to Newburgh, on Thursday March 24th for round one off the State Cup. A game against a very strong Soccer plus team was not want the boys wanted in round one, but they went into the game confident after their recent performances. Marc Torres got them off to a great start flicking on a Mike Nastu free kick but unfotunately some errors in defence and keeping saw Soccer PLus go 2-1 up before the half finished.

The 2nd half saw Rvsc begin to play like they have done recently, as a result they quickly went level after an excellent goal from Liam Flynn brought the game back to 2-2. Rvsc had a few good chances to win this one in normal time but some unlucky finishing meant the game went into extra time. Another bad error saw Soccer plus grab another lead 3-2 in the first period off extra time but Ben Evans was on target to finish off an excellent save from the Newburgh net minder to square it again at 3-3. In the last period off over time RVSC were awarded a much deserved penalty after a hand ball by a Newburgh player and Marc Torres stepped up to hammer the ball in for the winning goal 4-3.

Coach McEnery was delighted with the win and the boys now look forward to a contest against the highly fancied Eastern FC.

Ramapo Valley u16 boys led in every game in Weston, Florida, during the Presidents weekend three day International Weston Cup. The boys have been working hard all winter following up on their good showing at all three weekend college showcases in the Fall, so it was no surprise to see the boys play well. However the hot temps and lack off out door games over the winter months showed as in each game they conceeded late goals to leave them needing a win to progress to the championship final. Leading 1-0 in that game Goalkeeper Matt Urnick unfortunately got sent off and conceeded a PK which eventually cost RVSC the game.
